Yet another victory in the Northern District of New York, following a two-day trial where our dedicated legal team, led by Stephen Rehfuss and Kara Baker, under a student practice order as a third-year law student at Albany Law School, successfully defended our clients—members of the City of Albany’s Criminal Response Unit (CRU).
The case centered around a complex narcotics investigation conducted by CRU detectives, which culminated in the execution of a no-knock search warrant on June 6, 2017. Despite encountering difficulties during the execution of the warrant, our clients diligently pursued their duties, ultimately resulting in the discovery of significant quantities of illegal substances.
During the trial, our defense team effectively presented evidence, including police documents and witness testimony, which underscored the professionalism and integrity with which our clients conducted themselves throughout their careers and during the events of the case. Despite conflicting testimony from plaintiff, the jury, after careful consideration, returned a verdict in favor of the defendants.
